                Science is an important subject to have in your curriculum. This is so because science is what allows us to understand natural environmental and medical happenings. It is important to understand these occurrences because in order for us to move forward as a civilization we have to be able to correct our past errors and move on to bigger and better things. A lot of prestigious current occupations involve a heavy background in science.  Pursuing careers in the medical and engineering field require science application because these occupations require the ability to solve problems effectively and to have a bigger understanding of Earth and the human body. I have exhibited my ability to do such things in my physical science and biology classes. In physical science I have related science to English. In my biology class I have created a food chain showing transfers of energy in a specific biome.

                In my freshman year of high school I took physical science. I previously had always done well in my science classes so I took an interest in science because I enjoy learning about Earth and also body systems and functions. Physical science is an introductory class similar to classes such as chemistry, physics, and also astronomy. I excelled in this class because I was able to understand these concepts that we’re not always easy to wrap my mind around. In a particular assignment of which I included a full paper with informational content and a data analysis I received full credit. My paper included information and data on professional athlete’s endorsements and also salary. It is not always easy to write papers about something not relative to the class because you have to relate subjects that are not similar. 

                This writing assignment is important because it shows that I can take my English skills and apply them to a science class but still keep scientific evidence and data present in my writing. I did just this by including data and a bar graph to compare golf players total income by endorsements and their actually salary. This specific piece of work will help me in my future college science classes because my skills in other subjects are versatile. In my career it is important to be able to take many of my skills and apply them in different situations in a work day in order to solve problems and be able to prevent future issues for my patients.

                A food chain shows how each living thing gets food, and how nutrients and energy are transferred from creature to creature. The food chain beings with animal life, some animals are herbivores and others are carnivores. In my biology class I created a food chain in a grassland biome. This specific biome I drew was on the continent of Africa and I included animals and vegetation such as Rhoades grass, Baobab trees, Red Oat grass, fungi, Star grass, the giraffe, an elephant, a zebra, hyena, cheetah, a vulture and also Dalmatian pelican. These creatures rely on each other for survival. The food chain begins with the sun providing energy for the trees and grasses. The energy from the trees goes to the herbivores such as an elephant. For the carnivores, their survival depends of predatory techniques. An example of carnivorous behaviors would be the energy from a zebra going to a cheetah after the cheetah has successfully hunted its prey. I received 100 percent on the assignment because of my ability to understand this life cycle.  This is an important example of how I am able to understand biology and that I understand the importance of stability in the ecosystems. This exhibit will allow me to succeed in my college biology classes because I can build off of my basic knowledge of biology. In my career, biology is important to be able to understand body functions at a microscopic level.
