ENFJ’s have many positive attributes, but with every personality, there are also weaknesses in character. ENFJ’s tend to be visionaries, for example, former presidents such as Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Regan. They had ideas of which many people honored, respected, and followed. ENFJ’s have the charisma and the power to manipulate others but, often it is not used in a manipulative way. We tend to be born leaders with true belief in our dreams and we often see the big picture and focus on expansion.
In my career choice of dentistry, leadership is a very important factor. A good dentist can lead the team of the hygienist and assistants through difficult procedures and be a role model for the public, not only in their dental hygiene but their overall health and wellness. Charisma is also an important characteristic of a good dentist because when you are a healthcare worker, you become a public figure. It is important to be able to communicate with your patients to prevent any sort of misunderstandings regarding their health; you want them to feel comfortable with you so you can provide the best care for your patient. Another factor is trustworthiness. Many ENFJ’s are trustworthy. This is important in my career because you want your patient to know that they can trust you to perform difficult procedures. Another positive attribute of an ENFJ is they are organized. It is important in dentistry to stay organized and on top of everything so things run smoothly. Being a dentist you see on average eight to fifteen patients a day. That’s fifteen appointments to remember and work into your busy schedule. In order to run things efficiently, it is vital to stay on task and to stay organized.
Even though I posses these positive personality points, everyone has a negative side to their personality. As was mentioned, I truly believe in my dreams, ideas, beliefs and also my ways. This can be viewed as a negative point in my personality because I am stubborn and it is not always easy for me to accept new ways. It is important to be able to adapt to new ways in dentistry because there always will be new methods of dentistry along with technological advances of which must be considered and valued with the patients in mind. Another fault with my personality is I often speak my mind and not everyone may understand that. If I strongly believe in something I will often say what I am thinking. This may be a negative because not everyone will agree with what I have to say. This is correlated to my future career because in dentistry you work together as a team, it is important to listen to what your team has to say so you can form a plan of which everyone in the group agrees on. Everyone’s opinion must be noted and valued.
Everyone has positives and negatives about their personality. It is your job to use these positive attributes, and also negative attributes to your benefit. You always will be the person you truly are, this is why it is important to let your true colors shine and let them shine bright.
